Davies Crane Hire Ltd is expecting to scale new heights of business efficiency with the implementation of Jaama’s industry-leading management software system.
Key2 Hire Management, which will go live across all Davies Crane Hire depots early in 2018, will be used to manage:
•The hiring of mobile, all-terrain and crawler cranes, ranging from eight-ton to 400-ton capacity as well as scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements and regulated inspections.
•The company’s transport fleet including pick-up vehicles, lorry loaders, flat-bed and low loaders.
•All financials ranging from credit checks at the point of hire to generating invoices and creating contracts to detailing the unique crane number, start and end date of hire, hire rates, customer details and location of hire.
•Vehicle drivers and crane operators’ licences to ensure maximum compliance.
The one-stop shop, web-enabled Key2 solution replaces two separate IT systems - one used to manage crane hire and related financial reporting and a separate system to manage vehicle drivers and crane operators.
Davies Crane Hire, which was founded in 1979, is a family-run business and one of the largest independent crane hire companies in Wales with depots in Carmarthen, Port Talbot, Milford Haven and Cardiff, to cover South and West Wales and within easy access to the M4 corridor for ease of travelling throughout the UK.
Operating a total of 79 cranes and other vehicles, Duncan Andrews, general manager, Davies Crane Hire, said: “Key2 offers major advances in the way we manage both the operational and financial elements of the business, all in one system. By reducing human error and driving the administration team forward in a pro-active and positive way we expect to see a significant reduction in administration costs and increased productivity in the day-to-day operation.”
He explained: “Introducing Key2 is all about driving operational efficiencies. Presently the main source of communication between the depots is by telephone or email. When Key2 is fully implemented, individual system users at each depot will immediately be able to access information and reports and see details of all equipment i.e. what is available for hire, when hired equipment will be returned and maintenance and inspection schedules across the entire fleet.
“All these elements will drive the company in a new direction, ultimately allowing the company to better meet the future demands of customers.”
Furthermore, Davies Crane Hire’s decision to include Jaama’s Key2 Licence2Check service within the scalable multi-site Key2 Hire Management system will aid the company in meeting its duty of care obligations under Health and Safety Executive guidelines.
Jaama’s ability to provide Davies Crane Hire with a dedicated account manager and both online and telephone support was also critical to the company opting to implement Key2.
Mr Andrews said: “The fact that all data relating to vehicles, equipment and drivers will be easily accessible across all Davies Crane Hire locations coupled with the intensive training and the post-implementation account management support on offer, the benefits and advanced capabilities of this ‘all in one’ system will soon be recognised in driving the business forward.
“From a customer perspective, it will further improve service, specifically in terms of accessing equipment availability with on- and off-hire dates, raising contracts and issuing invoices and related paperwork.”
Jordan Thompson, Jaama’s Key2 Hire Management software system manager, said: “We are continuously improving the software and some of the recent developments are clearly reaping dividends with a string of new contract wins such as that with Davies Crane Hire.
“Key2 Hire Management is the most sophisticated system available in the hire sector and with the high-degree of in-life support that Jaama provides, we anticipate further contract wins.”
