Is the 3 year, 60,000 mile lease contract dying??

The three-year/60,000-mile contract hire lease, for decades the fleet industry standard, is becoming less significant as companies look for greater flexibility, it is claimed.   The “slow death” of the three-year/60,000-mile contract is due to fleet manager realisation that today’s cars have the capability to withstand higher mileages, while fleets and their contract hire suppliers […]

New Key2 V5C Suppression Module Launched

The paperless office is a vision of industry-leading asset and driver management software innovator Jaama and it has moved a step closer with the launch of a new module in the wake of the government’s decision to digitalise vehicle registration certificates.

As part of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency’s (DVLA) transformation of online services, a vehicle registration certificate or log book – known as a V5C – can now be viewed online by fleets that opt into its V5C on Demand service.

JCT600 Vehicle Leasing Solutions, which operates a 7,000-strong fleet, is the first contract hire and leasing company user of Jaama’s cutting-edge Key2 Vehicle Management software to embrace the module and it believes, one of the first in its sector in the UK to adopt the V5C on Demand service.

The service is available to companies, including vehicle leasing and rental businesses as well as end-user fleets, with 50 or more vehicles that have registered on the DVLA Fleet Scheme.

Jaama’s new functionality is now live and available as an optional module within the company’s multi award-winning Key2 management system.

How to get the best out of your hire management software

Improve asset utilisation, improve efficiency, achieve KPI’s, collate business intelligence, ensure legislative compliance, just snippets of what we strive to achieve on a daily basis.  But where do you start and what is the priority?

Measuring and monitoring may sound obvious but in the cut-throat plant, equipment and tool hire market it is critical for business success.

According to Jordan Thompson, hire software manager at market leading software innovator Jaama, it is critical that hirers utilise technology to maximise and grow their business potential, starting with a complete audit trail that clearly identifies:

•All legislative compliance requirements are up-to-date
•The exact location of all equipment in terms of who the customer is
•A full history of all assets to maximise stock utilisation.

Ms Thompson said: “Without that information at the fingertips of management, businesses will become inefficient and potentially lose money because they will not be maximising hiring opportunities. What’s more, companies could be investing in plant and other equipment that is rarely out of the yard when they could maximise increased hire opportunities by purchasing additional examples of in-demand machines and other equipment.”

Call for BIK cut for ultra low vehicles

Cuts to company car benefit-in-kind tax for ultra-low emission vehicles should be brought forward, according to the British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (BVRLA).   The BVRLA argues that announcing that from April 2020 employees selecting ultra-low emission cars can make significant tax savings could mean take-up of those vehicles is delayed for three years. […]

Dangerous drivers who kill could get life in prison

The plans unveiled by the Ministry of Justice would bring the offence of causing death by dangerous driving – including those speeding, street racing or while on a mobile phone – in line with manslaughter, meaning drivers could face a life sentence instead of the current maximum of 14 years.   Careless drivers who kill […]

Hire Management Software Version 2

Jaama has rebranded its plant, equipment and tool hire management software and simultaneously introduced a range of sophisticated new features to boost business and user efficiencies.

Key2 Hire Management is the new name for the sector-leading plant and tool hire software management system. It was previously known as Key2 Plant Management.

The rebrand has been unveiled to widen the marketplace attractiveness of Key2 Hire Management as the functionality enables hire equipment outside of the pure plant sector to be managed, such as generators and toilets.
