Fleets are being urged to ensure personal data is removed from electronic devices in vehicles in the wake of a survey of members by the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA).
The volume of vehicles entering the remarketing process and still containing personal data – notably on multi-media systems and satellite navigation devices – has highlighted a widespread concern that security is still an issue for the sector.
The survey reported that 90% of respondents felt there wasn’t enough clarity and understanding around personal data security protocols and the associated procedures for its removal prior to the vehicle resale.

Fast-growing fleet and asset management software company Jaama is celebrating after being named Professional and Service Business of the Year in the inaugural Tamworth Business and Community Awards.
Significant expansion has assisted Jaama become an international provider of asset management software systems that manage all aspects of fleet, plant, rental, leasing, maintenance and repair and a wide range of ancillary requirements.
However, the Tamworth-based company, which now has some 50 staff, is reliant on the pool of local people to provide its skills base ranging from software developers to account managers and customer service executives.
Contract wins along with an ever-growing number of new business opportunities at leading fleet and asset management software company Jaama has resulted in Sean Eckersley joining its major account management team.
Mr Eckersley will be working closely with Jaama’s major account customers to ensure that they realise the full potential of the company’s Key2 vehicle and driver management system following implementation.
On leaving university, his motor-industry related career has included being employed by Epyx, which has developed the 1link Vehicle Network online trading platform; establishing his own vehicle sourcing and sales business; working for both TNT and Global Insurance Management and most recently working alongside DriveAway Motoring Services in the development of insurance-based software used by fleets, contract hire and leasing companies and dealers.

Jaama, the leading fleet management software supplier, has made a further appointment with the creation of a new role within its Key2 development team.
Experienced IT professional Phil Meadows has been appointed a business analyst within the team with his focus on understanding customers’ vehicle and driver management challenges and requirements and how they can better use the company’s Key2 system to deliver efficiencies through the improved utilisation of the functionally rich software.
Additionally, he will assist with the further development of Key2 to ensure it meets the ever-changing industry and fleet requirements.
Leading software supplier Jaama has appointed two new senior project managers, Keith Newman and Elaine Pitts as demand for its sophisticated web-based fleet and asset management solutions continue to rise.
Mr Newman and Ms Pitts have joined the operations team responsible for implementing Jaama’s Key2 software and training new and existing customers to maximise system use.
Mr Newman, who spent a year living in the Amazon Rainforest in Guyana teaching GCSE level maths to Amerindian children in a remote village, has a lengthy IT project management career behind him that has seen him most recently employed by iSite where he spent two years managing property system implementations and development for high profile retail clients.
Ms Pitts, who began her career in the diagnostics industry becoming involved in instrumentation and IT, has more than 20 years’ experience in project management of software development and delivery.
