Cost savings and administration efficiencies are anticipated by Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service as it becomes the latest ‘blue light’ fleet to turn to Jaama’s multi award-winning Key2 Vehicle Management system.
Hertfordshire County Council has used the technology for more than seven years to manage its fleet, which currently numbers 600 cars and 500 commercial vehicles, and now the county’s fire service wants to reap the benefits.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service operates a fleet of 180 vehicles, including 48 fire appliances, as well as a wide range of specialist and support vehicles.
Steve Holton was appointed Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue Service’s group commander for technical services 10 months ago, with a broad remit that included overseeing the fleet operation.
Mr Holton explained: “I undertook a review of the fleet operation and it was clear that we needed to introduce a management software system and move away from a manual regime based on spreadsheets.
“The County Council has successfully been using Key2 for many years so it made sense as a service within the authority to also utilise the technology.”
Jaama, the UK’s leading fleet, leasing and rental management software supplier, has become an Associate member of the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS).
FORS is a voluntary scheme for fleet operators aimed at raising the quality of fleet operations to levels compliant with a national standard.
Many Jaama customers have already achieved FORS bronze, silver or gold accreditation. Associate status is for fleet suppliers which do not run commercial vehicles but who wish to help drive up operating standards across the sector and add value to the FORS scheme.
A FORS spokesman said: “We are delighted to have Jaama as a FORS Associate providing an exclusive benefit to the FORS community.”
Furthermore, to celebrate its Associate member status, Jaama is offering FORS applicants and members a series of benefits. They are:
•A free process review to clearly establish and document a fleet’s business and system requirements to achieve or maintain the FORS standard
•50 free driver licence checks with every Jaama Key2 Vehicle Management System ordered
•A 5% discount on all initial driver licence check orders.

JAAMA SPOTLIGHTS REQUIREMENT FOR DRIVER LICENCE CHECKING AMID COUNTDOWN TO PAPER COUNTERPART AXE AT FLEET SHOW
Fleet decision-makers must urgently implement initiatives to ensure they have robust validation of employees’ driving licences in place ahead of the June 8th abolition of the paper counterpart to the photocard driving licence, according to leading management software provider Jaama.
The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is axing the paper counterpart as part of the government’s programme to reduce red tape.
Many car, van and HGV fleets already use Jaama’s electronic driver entitlement checking service (EDECS), which seamlessly links with the DVLA’s database, to check the driving licences of thousands of at-work drivers, including employees who drive their own cars on business journeys and spouse drivers.
However, many employers continue to undertake checks internally themselves by looking at the counterpart, which contains essential occupational road risk management information on a holders’ driving entitlement categories and current endorsements/penalty points.
Jaama will be exhibiting at the 2015 Fleet Show, which is being held on Tuesday, May 12, at the world famous Silverstone Circuit and organised by industry publication Fleet World.
Leading fleet and asset management software company Jaama has appointed Nigel Goodger as its new customer services manager and boosted its client support team with the recruitment of Paul Parkes.
Mr Goodger replaces Bob Leighfield, who has retired from Jaama having joined from Arval, one of the UK’s largest vehicle leasing and fleet management companies.
Mr Goodger, an experienced target driven operations/service delivery manager, has joined Jaama having worked for 25 years for Birmingham City Council and outsourcing solutions specialist Capita in a number of key roles embracing customer service, business relationship management incorporating account growth and business development, and service delivery.
