Jaama, a leading UK fleet management software provider, has been awarded a long-term contract with the Metropolitan Police Service to provide its Key2 fleet and workshop management software platform.

The contract, which can run for up to 10 years, will support one of the UK’s largest and most complex public sector fleet operations.

The Metropolitan Police Service is the UK’s largest police service, with more than 46,000 officers and staff. Its fleet of over 5,000 vehicles covers more than 52 million miles each year across Greater London, spanning front-line response cars, armed response units, prisoner transportation, and forensic support vehicles.

Many of these assets require significant specialist conversion to meet the demands of operational policing, creating complex requirements around availability, compliance, maintenance, workshop management, operational control, and value for money.

What fleet management software will Jaama provide to the Metropolitan Police Service?

As part of the contract, Jaama will provide the Metropolitan Police Service with its Key2 fleet and workshop management software platform.

Key2 will support an integrated approach to managing one of the most complex public sector fleet operations in the country, helping the MPS manage vehicles, drivers, compliance, maintenance, workshop activity, reporting, and operational performance through a connected system.

The contract follows a rigorous year-long competitive tender process, structured across four stages. Jaama was rated overall the Most Advantageous Tender across key assessment pillars, including Technical & Quality, Commercial, Social Value, Health & Safety, and Business Continuity.

How long is the Metropolitan Police Service contract with Jaama?

The contract can run for up to 10 years and is structured as a 7+1+1+1 agreement.

This long-term structure gives the Metropolitan Police Service a platform to support current fleet requirements while creating scope for continuous improvement as operational needs, technology, reporting demands, and public sector expectations continue to evolve.

Why does the Metropolitan Police Service need specialist fleet management software?

The Metropolitan Police Service operates a highly specialist fleet that supports critical policing activity across Greater London.

Its vehicles aren't standard fleet assets. They include front-line response cars, armed response units, prisoner transportation vehicles, and forensic support vehicles, many of which require specialist conversion and tight operational control.

For a fleet of this size and complexity, the challenge isn't only managing vehicles. It's also maintaining availability, improving utilisation, controlling costs, supporting compliance, and giving teams access to the information they need to make better decisions.

That makes fleet management software a core part of operational performance, not just an administrative tool.

How will Key2 support the Metropolitan Police Service?

Key2 provides the tools, insight, and flexibility needed to support productivity, efficiency, and compliance across complex fleet operations.

For the Metropolitan Police Service, the platform will help create a more integrated approach to managing fleet and workshop activity. That includes supporting data-driven decision-making, improving operational control, and giving teams clearer visibility across vehicle availability, utilisation, maintenance, compliance, and performance.

This investment also supports the MPS’s wider focus on digital transformation across Business Services, helping officers and staff work with the right tools and information.

A milestone public sector partnership for Jaama

The announcement at this year’s National Association of Police Fleet Managers event marks a significant milestone for Jaama. MPS’s attendance underlines the force’s commitment to fleet excellence, while Jaama’s presence alongside them marks the start of what is set to be a strong and mutually beneficial partnership.

Andrew Holgate, Chief Executive Officer at Jaama, says:

“We are proud to have been selected by the Metropolitan Police Service to support one of the UK's most complex and important public sector fleets. MPS’s requirements are demanding, operationally critical, and highly specialised. That is exactly the type of environment Key2 was built to support.

“Winning a fleet of this complexity reflects the 20 years we have spent supporting large and complex fleets across leasing, rental, corporate, and public sector operations. I want to thank our team for the work that went into the tender process. We now look forward to a long-term partnership with the Met, built on the service, delivery, and trust that a force responsible for policing London should expect.”

Supporting digital transformation across Business Services

Ben Joce, SRO for the Programme and Head of Solutions Services within MPS, said:

“This award marks the next step in our digital transformation across Business Services, ensuring our officers and staff are supported with the right tools to do their jobs effectively. It also reflects our commitment to delivering better value for money by improving efficiency, insight, and operational control across our fleet. I am pleased that Jaama will be joining us on this journey.”

Jason Powell, Director of Fleet Services, said:

“I am delighted that Jaama has been selected following a rigorous and highly competitive procurement process. Throughout the programme we have been bold in our ambitions, focusing not only on current operational requirements, but on securing a solution that will continue to evolve alongside one of the most complex fleet operations in the UK.

“Key2 provides the tools, insight, and flexibility we need to drive productivity, efficiency, and compliance across our fleet today, whilst creating a platform for continuous improvement throughout the life of the contract. As we continue to scale our digital capability, enhance data-driven decision-making, and explore emerging AI opportunities, it is vital that we have a system capable of evolving with us.

“This investment is about much more than fleet management software; it is about ensuring we have the information and operational control needed to maximise availability, improve utilisation, and deliver better value from every vehicle we operate. At a time when every pound of public money matters, we want to ensure every penny spent contributes to better outcomes for London, and this partnership provides a strong foundation to help us achieve that.”

What does this contract mean for Jaama?

The contract marks a major public sector milestone for us and reflects our organisation's experience in supporting large and complex fleets across leasing, rental, corporate, and public sector operations.

It also strengthens our position as a trusted software partner for organisations with demanding fleet, workshop, compliance, and reporting requirements.

The award builds on our established track record across public sector fleets. We've previously delivered fleet management services for Lancashire Police and NHS Scotland, among many others, bringing considerable experience of the compliance, operational, and reporting demands public sector clients require.

What does Key2 help public sector fleets manage?

Key2 helps public sector fleets manage vehicles, drivers, compliance, maintenance, workshop activity, reporting, and operational performance through one integrated system.

For blue light and public sector organisations, this matters because fleet teams often need to manage specialist vehicles, operational availability, strict compliance processes, audit requirements, and budget scrutiny at the same time.

Key2’s built-in flexibility makes it well suited to the demands of blue light organisations, as well as proven capabilities in managing specialist, rapid response, and medical vehicle environments.
